The origin of LoveCHUG

OK...to begin let me tell you I am laughing out loud.  I really am.

I ran into my friend at the gym and we started talking about my blog and she confessed she googled "what does love chug even mean?"...her friends have all asked each other too...what is a love chug?

So, then I go onto my account and look under my key word searches, and low and behold...it's there. 

"What does love chug mean?"

I cannot believe this is being googled.

So, I'm just going to say it.

Yup....I'm claiming it. 

I said it first....

I made it up!

[cringing]

It all happened 6ish years ago...

I was working at my Father-in-law's brothers gas station, Gas-n-Go.

I was at the cash register when all of a sudden a lady comes up to buy her 32oz, and a puppy nose is peeking out of her coat sleeve.

A puppy in her SLEEVE!

I was dying!

I immediately:
- grab the puppy,
-fall in love with the puppy,
-give her the drink for free (Uncle Mark, it was 'free refill Wednesday' or something like that. Promise),
-and snuggle the puppy until it was uncomfortable for the owner and myself.

Then I, sadly, gave the pup back to the owner and asked her what this little ball of
wrinkly/squishy/adorablness was,
and she said,

"Its a chug...a Chihuahua and Pug mix"

And with that-the birth of CHUG happened.
Well, my kind of 'chug' at least, because from that point on- everything in my life I loved, or thought was cute was immediately re-named CHUG.
Chug was not a puppy...Chug was a feeling. The best feeling in the World.

Not too long after this experience, I found myself holding my dear, sweet newly wedded husband's hand on a doctor office bed with an ultrasound technician poking and prodding my growing belly....and there we saw it for the first time....

A tiny, little kidney bean with arms and alien head.

It was so cute.

It was so tiny.

It was my CHUG.

It was our LOVE CHUG!

Weeks later, even when we found out that Zuri was a girl, I continued to call our little bundle of unborn joy, CHUG.

Our families followed suit and it has stuck ever since.

So, there you have it. The origin of chug....I, hereby, give you all the rights to use it as you wish.

Whats up, Buttercup?

Whew...I'm tired. 

Moving is a lot of work.

And I haven't even packed a box yet...oops.

The mental toll it takes to figure out all the logistics, and the middle of the night lightning bolt "to do"  thoughts that wake me up out of a dead sleep are all SO taxing. 

I'm pretty sure I have mentally checked out of my lovely home in Utah, and am ready to get on with our new adventure.

So, with all this SF school district mumbo jumbo, number crunching, and Craigslist searching I have forgotten to catch you guys up on few things.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's the night before Thanksgiving and what did we do? A lot.

I braved the grocery store with the kids trying to find everything for green bean casserole, Bronson finished up on last minute work, we went to Cubby's for dinner, then we came home and put the babes to bed.

After cleaning the house and preparing for our feast tomorrow, Mr. Christensen and I found ourselves in an impromptu gangsta ass, Weezy F Baby dance-a-thon. Hahaha...it was so funny.

I love nights like tonight.

Then it got me thinking....I thought about Thanksgiving and how it's actually tomorrow. Time has flown! I really cant believe it. And I start thinking of where I was a year ago from today...

The beginning of 2012 was probably the hardest time I've ever had personally. It took me completely losing my sense of self to find out who really I am. All the parts of me.

It was hard. It sucked a lot of the time, actually. There were things I didn't want to dive into, but I did. And I'm so glad I did.

I look at where I am today and I see how my whole entire world has changed. The people around me, the things around me, the places I go to… Those things-those people-those places, they haven't changed...but my feelings on them have. My feelings on myself have changed.

I opened my soul and my eyes this past year, and the biggest difference since doing so is my feeling of gratitude. The people in my life are so amazing...I have so much love and support all around me and my family. The opportunities we've had this year are endless it feels like! We have great health, a good home, food and water, and are happy. I see all these great things around me more clearly now and I am so grateful for it all.

So, maybe what I'm trying to say is that if you're not feeling 100% this holiday season, don't give up. One measly year can make all the difference in the world if you let it.

Copes birthday

My cutie pie nephew, Cope, turned 2 just awhile back and had the best little birthday party ever! His mama, Kylie, did such a good job.

Yes, he is abnormally cute, and yes, I am aware we are blessed with extraordinarily beautiful babies in this family.

 I don't get it, but we'll take them!

I have a strange talent for making cakes so I offered to make Cope's Brobee cake....and I have to say, I think that cake is my most bestest creation.

HAHA. If you havent watched this bad lip reading you won't get it.....so watch it!

Big News

You may have already heard the news via Instagram....

But if you haven't yet-Here it is.

 We are moving to San Francisco! 

.....like soon,

It happened so fast that I feel like its all a dream....a wonderfully, magnificent dream that I never want to wake up from. There are moments when the reality of this hits me like,

 Oh my gosh, this is real and this is happening.  

We are moving. 

Then I have to take a few deep breathes and be a big girl.

First question we get asked: Why are we moving?

A:Bronson got offered his dream job at one of the best design firms in the country....Rapt Studio. 

Rapt Studio does design for companies like Adobe, Apple, and Nike to name a few.

...If you know anything about my husband, then you know how amazing this is to him.

Second question we get asked: What about People Water?

A: People Water is our third child.

We love People Water and what it's doing for people around the world and in our own country in ways we can't even put into words.

People Water is also the platform that built my husbands career into what it is today, and for that we can't ever be grateful enough.

So, with that said, he will NEVER leave People Water! The guys there are our family, and

Bronson is an owner in the company-We will always be apart of it.

There is some bitter in all this sweet for us, though.....Leaving our family is a huge deal. Our kids adore our parents and their aunts, uncles, and cousins. And so do we, duh. 

 (But we're planning on getting a SouthWest card, moms and dads.....don't worry! Lots of visits are in our future. )

 And it's always scary leaving what works and is comfortable to you for the utterly unknown, but in the midst of all these mixed emotions of excited and scared, and happy and sad...I know this is whats right for us. 

I pray everyday for opportunities to come to my husband, myself, and our family.  And I pray for ways to strengthen our family as a whole...And I guess what I'm saying is be careful what you pray for-because it might actually happen and turn your life upside down for minute, haha!

But, really, Bronson has been working his whole life to get to this exact point right now. I can't be any happier or more proud of him. 

I heard someone say somewhere that there is no such thing as luck....that luck is actually when preparation meets opportunity. Well, I'm so happy my wonderful husb has been preparing, and I'm so happy Cory opened the door to this great opportunity.

Cory and Kelsey Sistrunk, are our dear friends who live in SF. Cory has been working for Rapt for over a year and is Bronson's design role model basically.  And Kelsey is helping us find housing, telling us about school districts, and giving us the ins-and-outs of living in the Bay area. They have two of the most beautiful baby girls I've ever seen, and are one of our most favorite families we know. We'd be lost without them and I'm SO grateful for them in so many ways!

So, there you have it.

Our HUGE news. 

You better believe I'll be updating you regularly. 

Oh, and want to rent out our house? Its really cute. haha.

Remi girl

Yes, my baby girl turned 1 way back on September 28th....But I wanted to wait to post on her first birthday until I got her year photos done by TreasureLayne.

Better late, than never!

Dear Remi,

You turned one, my beautiful darling. And I cannot believe it. This year flew by so quickly that it scares me.

I remember counting the weeks until your sister turned one....it seemed like it took forever to get to that huge milestone.  With you, it feels like I had you six months ago! This is just one more example of the many ways I cannot compare my experience with you to my experience I had with Zuri as a little baby.

You guys are such different children. You make her a better little person, just like you make me and your dad better people, too.

Right now as I type this you are gone. Both of you guys are gone because I have strep throat and dont want you guys getting it too, so I shipped you off to your grandmas. I absolutely hate it. Its so boring and lonely without you here. Your tiny one year old self brings so much joy and happiness into our home and into our lives. I love you so much, little girl, we cant imagine what life without you would be like.

Right now you're walking everywhere and are getting into everything. You yell 'mom!' at the top of your lungs all day long....there is no rhyme or reason to it, either. When you're happy, sad, mad, need something, want something, or are just plain bored- you are yelling "Moooooooom!. mom! mom. Mooooom!" over and over again. Haha.

You think you're better at walking than what you actually are, so I catch you trying to run. Haha, most of the time you look like a tiny druken sailor wobbling everywhere. Its so cute.

You love finding purses and carrying them around the house...Purses, balloons, and toothbruses are your favorite items to play with. And more recently you've become interested in phones or anything with a lid.

You are trying to be very independent these days. But in the same moment, youre still as addicted to me as ever....you have chosen me to be your comfort item in life so far, so there are no binkys, no blankeys, no stuffed animals, or even baba's. Its just me. It is, also, your preference that you do everything on your own, but with me at an arms length away. You get so mad when you cant see me. And in all honestly, I'm not that happy when I cant see you either.

Already, I know you are a strong little woman.  You're very determined and smart. You're also the sweetest most cuddly baby ever. I have enjoyed raising you so much. You're just so sweet and there are times when you look at me and I feel like you appreciate what we do for you. Its so amazing!

You and I share a special bond that I hold so close to my heart. There are moments when I look at you and you look right back at me, right into my eyes. I feel like in those moments you read my soul, you seem so much more mature than any other baby, and even more mature than me at times. For example, I'll do a dance for you, or sing a funny song that most babies would love-then you look at me like "grow up, mom" hahaha. You're an old soul, Rems,  and I'm predicting you will be very deep and wise as an adult.

I'm so excited to watch you grow and learn more. I'm so happy that you chose me to be your mama. I'm so excited to watch you become best friends with your sister. I'm so hopeful and happy for your future--something about you eases my mind and gives me peace.  Maybe its because you already know your sister has a fiery spirit at heart and having you anchors out our family in ways I cant even explain. You brought balance into our lives and were so grateful for you.

Off the hanger

GUYS! I'm finally off my death bed...kinda. I had the the worst strep throat that took my life over for a week, but I'm on the mend. 

The only good thing that happened while I was sick is that Zuri and I got a lovely care package from my friend over at MIMI CHICA....cutest clothes ever. Zuri's stuff? ohhh emmmm geeee! I can't wait to show you.

But for right now, you get the dress.
